Specialty Courses

Nitrox

Diving nitrox increases diving safety by decreasing nitrogen accumulation and narcosis and has added benefits of extending NDL times.

The use of nitrox in open water diving is highly underrated. At Total Immersion we promote its uptake from the very first open water dives, allowing divers to reap the benefits on every dive thereafter. Whilst long being considered “expensive” or “technical”, the full potential of nitrox is not being embraced. At Total Immersion we fully promote the use of diving nitrox and encourage others to do so.

  • Certified RAID Open Water 20 or equivalent.
  • Complete the RAID registration procedures.

Technical Courses

Deco 40

The RAID DECO 40 program forms a bridge between recreational and technical diving.

The problem with technical diving is that it has marketed and positioned itself as unattainable for the average diver. Divers are led to believe they must have superhuman strength and mental agility to participate in a technical diving program.

Of course, here at RAID we believe this is simply not the case, but believing and acting are two totally different things.

The Deco 40 program is aimed squarely at the recreational market and not at the technical market. The program is ideally completed using modified recreational equipment.

Deco 50 Instructors may teach the Deco 40 program using twinsets, and Deco 40 instructors certified as Sidemount Instructors may teach the program in sidemount configuration.

The Deco 40 makes an ideal entry-level decompression program, but it must be noted that it has been created with the recreational diver in mind.

Prerequisites

  • The diver must be a minimum of 16 years old and a certified diver for at least 3 months
  • Certified RAID Explorer 30 or RAID Advanced 35 diver or equivalent
  • Divers must be certified as RAID Nitrox and RAID Deep 40 diver or equivalent
  • Must have at least 20 logged hours underwater or 40 dives using open circuit.

Course Duration:
4 days

Course Price:
$800

Deco 50

The RAID DECO 50 program is an entry level technical program, based on modern approaches and theory, which results in divers being capable and competent to carry out dives after the course.

This fully comprehensive program trains divers to carry out 50m decompression dives with a single stage and optimal gases for the dives using trimix.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18 years or older
  • Certified diver for at least 3 months
  • Be certified as a RAID Nitrox, Deep 40 and Master Rescue Diver (or equivalent), and have experience in Navigation and Night/Restricted Visibility diving.
  • Must have logged at least 5 hours between 27-40 m.
  • Submit current Rescue Breathing, CPR Training and Oxygen Provider certificates.
  • Have logged 50 hours underwater or 75 dives using open circuit.

Learn with Total Immersion

Why choose a RAID-certified course?

If the certifications you get at the end of your RAID courses are internationally recognised, just like PADI & SSI courses are, what’s the difference between them all?

To cut the long story short – as a certification & training body, RAID focuses on skills & sweats the small stuff. RAID offer courses to suit beginners to the most advanced technical divers – and encourage their instructors & affiliated dive shops to take time to assess the needs & skills of each diver.

As a smaller certification body, RAID have made their name through a heightened focus on the personalisation & quality of the teaching & courses provided to students. With a focus on quality & not quantity, RAID have been able to offer specialised courses in lesser-known areas of technical diving that the main bodies don’t, and have created RAIDaptive courses for people with disability.

Why choose Total Immersion?

At Total Immersion, we care about the quality of your training above all else. We pride ourselves on smaller class sizes, ensuring our instructors have plenty of one-on-one time to help tailor your training to your needs.

Our instructors are passionate about introducing more great divers into the underwater community. We take the time to teach the things that really matter & that will make you a better diver & buddy. Doing a course with us means you’ll leave with a head start on excellent buoyancy control, proper finning techniques & clear underwater communication – the stuff that really counts!

Our instructors teach fully accredited & internationally-recognised RAID scuba courses (recognised anywhere PADI or SSI are).
